• I think you will find most "hate" comes from the German side. You certainly know that Germany damaged its international reputation badly because of Schroeder's anti-American campaign that he used to get himself re-elected - but Iraq was a great chance for the NPD but especially the millions of German hobby left-wingers to express their bitterness and guilt about being Germans=World War 2. I never expected it when I came here but the war is still THE major aspect of Germans' and the reason behind the exaggeratedly-friendly, uncertain, distant or hostile relationships with foreigners and the major theme within Germany society. Another example: "We might have been mass-murderers but at least Germans are better-educated than the US etc?" No. = PISA-shock. When Germans start accepting themselves, they willl overcome their depression and hostility.
