Death cab for Cutie

The Title of my letter is a popular music band, but in Sharjah its reality & me!
I reached my wit’s end for the billionth time in Sharjah last evening. Yet another trip, where a Taxi-driver tried to get more personal than my fiancé even. Instead of following instruction to my destination & just doing his job, he wanted details of my Nationality, Age & Marital status.
When I ignored this, he immediately blasted Indian music aloud & started driving in a round-about longer route to my destination.
Is this the way a “Customer” is treated? I work in Sales, dare I give the customer a difficult-time, my boss would dismiss my services.
And, when did it become an absolute requisite to disclose my personal life to a complete stranger who I’d be paying for his services to drive?!
Sharjah Taxi Authorities need to take such recurring matters seriously! And, turn their attention towards such “attention-seeking” deprived Taxi-men. I’d rather walk miles than be victim to such perverts. It’s a shame!28 Lug 2008, 12:59 Chanel Ffaym
