VAT - Refund - how does this work?

• I want to import some goods from South Africa to Poland. Do I have to pay VAT? If yes, does anybody know if I can get this refunded and how? Thanks for your help!

  Basically, you are obliged to pay VAT on imported goods to the Customs Office. However, you are then entitled to deduct this VAT through your VAT return once you receive SAD document.
  
  Recently, some new provisions have been introduced with this respect and they allow to postpone the VAT payment (to make VAT neutral even from the cash flow perspective), however it is possible under certain conditions.
