St. Christopher's School

Does anyone have any general knowledge about this school, or possibly know someone who works (has worked) there? A friend is applying, and I'm wondering what the general reputation is, for teachers and students, alike.

Why r u all so scared?
If St Chris is as bad as u say why don't all the staff who feel this way (more than 90% I think u said) go on strike - then maybe people would sit up and take notice! They couldn't sack u all - they wouldn't have a school!!!!
Just an idea? 11 Jul 2009, 08:17 - Report -

Al Noor School
Al Noor School is in Sitra not Manama
The school should offer you accommodation if employed. The salary is not excellent but when converted to your currency it's not bad
Bahrain is very safe and you will have no worries as a single woman
There is a large Indian community in BahrainGood Luck 12 Jul 2009, 08:19 - Report -
Al Noor International School Bahrain
Thanks to 'Good Luck' for the response to my queries ...
I read in some salary surveys of Bahrain that a primary school teacher on an average gets BD 1000 p.m. Is it anywhere near reality ????? And what is the most optimistic salary one can expect ( primary / 16 years /CBSE ).
My current Grade in India is Rs 20,000 per month. From some of the feedback I have received I gather that Rs. 12000-15000 is the expense per month ( single person ) for a very BASIC no frills lifestyle. Rent / accommodation is excluded from that figure. Is that expense estimate near correct ????? Or less or more.
If 12-15K expense is correct then it means that Indian job salary of Rs. 20K = Bahrain job salary of Rs. 35K ( as 15 K is the cost of living there )
Hence your recommendations are sought of what should be the minimum salary that I should ask / expect to make sense to move to Bahrain. The minimum salary CUT OFF.
Thanks in advance to all those reading this.....

Bahrain teaching Salaries
Salaries depend very much on the school. At the major American and British curriculum schools appropriately qualified teachers will receive a minimum of 850BD monthly plus accommodation allowance and flights home, if they are employed from abroad. Some schools provide on site accommodation whilst others give a set amount to cover rental of a basic apartment. Other schools are not so generous , I've heard of salaries as low as 250BD which even with accommodation provided is a raw deal for qualified and experienced teaching professionals.

An ex student's opinion
Hey Dima!
Well I have some advice since I have been to many schools in Bahrain.
My first school was The New Indian School- It was quite rigorous and gave me a good foundation.
Modern Knowledge School- No discipline, no education NOTHING. My friends who remain there are at such low educational levels. DEFINITELY A NO.
St. Christopher's School- I went there for a year, to be honest the Arabic wasn't THAT good but the school was AMAZING in terms of education and personal development. I was enrolled in clubs every day of the week. I am an overweight boy and still enrolled for gymnastics and the coaches there were very encouraging. I really respect this school. But you will probably be put on a waiting list.
Naseem- This is the school I graduated from. Honestly I didn't learn anything at all in this school except when I enrolled in the IB (International Baccaleurate) program, which is only for grade 11 and 12. This is a quality educational program and our class was the only class with brains in the whole school. Besides that it is HORRIBLE. No good activities what so ever.
Hope this helps!
This is my experience as a student in these schools. Just so you have a little background, I just graduated from the American University in Cairo with high honors and the top of my major.M. 14 Jul 2009, 10:30 - Report -
