Medical insurance - Health insurance for US citizens

• Hi, I am an American. I am coming to Spain. I need medical heath insurance before I come, otherwise I will not get a visa. Please advise.

• Public Medical Insurance & Foreigners

  I am a Spaniard. It is my understanding that if you are from another country and not working you can still get coverage through our public system. As far as I know as long as the person is registered as living at their Spanish address (empadronado) they can still access being covered under the system. Is that so?
